Technology set to fulfill Scripture

By David M. McNabb

A New Jersey surgeon has embedded tiny computer chips under his skin that can automatically transmit about two paragraphs worth of personal information to a scanner up to four feet away.

The surgeon, who said he implanted the devices in his hip and one arm in September, requested anonymity because he worries about the attention his initiative will draw. He said he decided to test the chip himself after witnessing rescuers at the World Trade Center write their names and Social Security numbers on their arms for identification if they were killed or injured at the site.

His employer, the financially struggling Applied Digital Solutions of Palm Beach, Fla., hopes the new chips, which are similar to those implanted in more than a million pets in recent years, will someday be widely used as a way to identify people.

They need not fear. The Bible has foretold of just such a device, which will not only be a convenience, but also a requirement.

A power, called "The Beast" in Revelation chap. 13, "causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." (Rev. 13:16-17)

As we progress to a cash-free electronic age, the need to prevent the theft of our documents becomes increasingly evident. This technology would eliminate the possibility one would lose their I.D.s or smart cards. Just like your own head, you would not be able to lose it because it would be attached to your body.

Satan is very subtle. The transition to this, or something similar, will be promoted as in the people's best interest - for security purposes. No more delays at the metal detector for a metal pin in your hip: your chip contains your medical history, and they'll know immediately what is setting it off and let you go through.

What they will neglect to tell you, however, is that the same God that saw this coming nearly 2000 years ago also said, "If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." (Rev. 14:9-11)

Hell is the unavoidable future for those that will receive the mark. Throughout Christian history, many have focused on the number of the beast's name: 666. Popularized by sermons and movies as the devil's number, many assume that it will characterize his mark.

But the Bible says that one can be condemned three ways: by taking (1) his mark, (2) his name, or (3) the number of his name. And even though 666 is recorded as being that number, the Bible says that he that has wisdom must count the number of his name - so it will not be that obvious.

Let us watch and be sober. The devil is on the move and technology is making way for prophecy. Let us worship God alone and be saved.
