Have you been watching?

By C. Eldon McNabb

Jesus said, "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." What exactly is it we are supposed to watch? One great indicator of the end of the Grace Age is "because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." (Matt. 24:12) There is also our modern transportation: Autos in Nahum 2:1-4; Motorcycles in Joel 2:1-4 and Job 39:19; and Aircraft in Isa. 60:8 and Ezek. 10:1-7. But I believe that one of the most important signs is prophetic World events! We must keep a watchful eye on the fluctuations and changes in the world's governmental structure

In the book of Daniel, the Lord said a great deal about how the governments of the world would develop and how they would be structured at the time of His preparation for the coming of our King, the Christ of God. God spoke, in chapter 7, of an emerging government which would be the fourth in a series of four, and would include all of the countries of the world. That power, He said, would have seven heads and ten horns. Later another little horn would come up among them which would "wear out the Saints of the Most High."

We have had that fourth kingdom of Daniel 7:7 with us for 56 years or more. Its "G Seven" heads and "G Ten" horns have been obvious for more than half of that time, and the United States of America is one of those "G Ten" and one of those "G Seven." I first remember them in the news in the 1960s and early 1970s, and I still have some of the news clippings concerning their activities during that era.

And what about the other "little horn?" The Lord quickened my understanding concerning that Little Horn about five or six years ago: The key to it was in Daniel chapter 8 all the time. It became clear to me that the entity to which Daniel referred would come forth from the Executive branch of the United States Government, and, in 1988, I wrote a booklet on the subject. That booklet is available for your edification, upon your request.

The Executive Branch of the U.S. government has been working feverishly, at least since September 11, 2001, to establish an exceptionally powerful Department to take control of the citizenry of the United States, and to ultimately suppress Christianity and put an end to the preaching of redemption by faith in Jesus Christ. That Department of Homeland Security was established by an act of Congress during the week of November 25th, 2002. And, they expect it to take until late next Summer or early Fall to bring all of the departments together which will constitute it. It is the Little Horn in Daniel chapters seven and eight, and it will be used, in the near future, to accomplish the will of the anti-Christian elements of this world to silence the voice of Christianity. As it is written, "In those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light. And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken." (Mark 13:24)

Jesus sorely rebuked the Jews during His ministry because they could "not discern the signs of the times." But what about us? Are we reading the signs which God is to giving us? We should realize, by now, that a great storm is brewing for us. Instead we are wrapped up in our "freedom," our leisure, and our celebrations (I believe Peter called them banquetings).

We have even given ourselves over to a subtle form of Idolatry with our Christianized Pagan Holiday observations with such things as offering songs with pagan trees in our places of worship. But what does God think of all of this? He said to us, in Amos 5:18-23, "Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! To what end is it for you?The day of the Lord is darkness and not light." He went on to say He despises our religious holidays, and will not listen to our prayers, our songs, nor our praises at these celebrations. In verse 24, God declares to us that His judgment is to be executed upon us for these errors, and that we will experience His anger. It is sure that God is going to use the Little Horn to make war with the Saints (Amos 3:6), and prevail against them, and to wear out the Saints of the Most High, "Until the Ancient of days shall come, and judgment is given to the Saints of the Most High; and the time comes that the Saints possess the kingdom." (Dan. 7:22, future tense) Apparently some of us will get ourselves into such a condition that, as Noah, we shall find grace in the eyes of the Lord at that time, and we shall be blessed to sit with Him on His throne.

Many of us who minister in the Lord's work today have been present to observe the formation of United Nations, and its gradual rise to power, in fulfillment of Daniel chapter seven. We have often seen the "G Ten" and "G Seven" in action as they manipulate the world by pulling the "purse strings" of the nations. Yet, today, the majority of Christian ministers simply cannot believe that the U.N., with its powerful heads and horns, is our nemesis of which Daniel spoke. We prefer to believe it will be some elusive future group of ten European nations. Of course, some of those ten horns on the U.N. are indeed European nations, but that Beast is here already!

We have watched the United Nations grow in power, and gradually take over large quantities of the land area of our world. Especially relevant to us is the fact that they have taken absolute control of multiplied millions of acres of some of the finest land in the U.S.A. And now we have watched until we have beheld the formation of that dreaded Little Horn which shall make war with the Saints, and prevail against them. He "shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the Saints of the Most High."

Many of our leaders of Spiritual Israel (Christianity) today have fallen under the condemnation of God which is expressed in Ezekiel 34, by feeding on the flock, instead of feeding the flock. The day of reckoning has come. We can insist that Jesus will come and catch us away out of all of that trouble, but that is to deny the obvious, which the prophet Daniel has pointed out for us by the Spirit of the Living God. If we continue to favor the errors which our leaders have inherited from our forefathers in Christ (Jer. 16:19), that Little Horn will fulfill his prophetic work in us.

The prophet Amos said, "Is there an evil done in the city, and the Lord hath not done it?" It is truly a time to "watch and be sober." Even more, it is time for us to "come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God," and prepare for the reality of the coming of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. When Jesus comes will He find you and me still watching?
