The Thirty-second Month

By C. Eldon McNabb

We are now more than thirty-two months into the forty and two month period which is mentioned in Rev. 11:2, and the carnage continues in Jerusalem.

Dateline Jerusalem, May 19, 2003: It was the beginning of the new Middle East peace process, May 17th and 18th, when the Palestinians launched a barrage of four attacks, two of which were in Jerusalem. The attacks took place before, during, and after a three-hour meeting Saturday night, May 17, between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas. Nine Israelis were killed in two suicide bombings; seven of them on board a Jerusalem bus on which 20 others also were wounded. The Israeli Prime Minister decided to postpone a trip to see President Bush and said, "Peace can only be achieved after terror has been eradicated and there is quiet here."

On June 12th, a headline from the New York Times read, "Suicide Blast Kills 16 in Jerusalem!"

The much talked about "Road Map" to peace which the United States has proffered holds some hope of settling the matter within three years. However, we can be confident that the violence in Jerusalem will end by sometime before the end of April, 2004; perhaps as early as late March. The Scriptures cannot be broken!
